Explore

When was the last time you ventured somewhere new? I asked myself this question a few weeks ago and decided it was time to go exploring and it's surprising what you can find on your doorstep when you open your eyes. Have a look at what I found...

So, how long ago was the last time you explored your surroundings?  Maybe too long...

London at Christmas

A couple of weekends ago, I travelled up to London with my family. As soon as you step into the capital you can see that christmas is in full swing - lights in every direction, jaw-dropping displays, bag-laden christmas shoppers and temperatures below freezing (There was even snow last week!!).

We started off in Oxford Street which was a little overwhelming but we took refuge in Lush. In London they have the biggest lush store in the world and it is huge! They also have exclusive products so it is definitely worth a visit.

After that, we strolled through Carnaby Street which boasts independent, contemporary shops. It is the hub of fresh, original ideas and it is one of my favourite spots in London. On the way in, we stopped for a while in Liberty which is so beautiful, especially this time of year. The whole store looked like a giant Santa's grotto of luxury gifts.

We then proceeded through Regent Street and out onto Piccadilly where we visited Fortnum & Mason's.

From there we walked through Burlington Arcade and into Old Bond Street which is without a doubt luxury beyond luxury. I was in awe at the beautiful decorations and glistening store fronts.

Before catching a train home, we caught one last fleeting glance of the beautiful Oxford Street lights, but not to worry as i'll be back tomorrow and i might even write a blog post about it.

Cambridge

A couple of weeks ago now, I went to Cambridge for the day. It isn't far away but I always enjoy my time there because it is so quintessentially british.

I love everything about the city; from the bustling market to the fact that you could be run over by a stray bike at any moment (bikes here are in abundance - either speeding down the narrow streets or travelling in packs along the main roads). There is also fantastic shops and great food.

Scroll down to take a look at the photos I took whilst I was there.

A falafel wrap from a small stand in the street (delicious I might just add)

These beautiful flowers grabbed my attention whilst wondering through the market

King's College in all its glory

Imagine studying here! Amazing.

Colourful bikes are fastened to the railings.

Traditional fudge being made at Fudge Kitchen.

Mmmmm...

Bright posters and advertisement cover the railings.
